Simple from day one.

01 / INSTALLATION

$0 installation cost. Ever.

Midlands Energy pays to install the approved system. You do not buy it, so there is no investment to earn back and no payback period to wait through.

02 / LOWER COSTS

Save on electricity from day one.

From the first solar power your building uses, you pay a lower rate for those kilowatt-hours than the comparable utility energy rate. That reduces the energy portion of what you spend on electricity.

03 / BILLING

Only pay for solar you use.

Your PPA bill is based on the metered solar electricity your building actually uses. Your utility continues supplying any additional power you need.

04 / MAINTENANCE

Maintenance costs you $0.

Midlands Energy owns the system and pays for its routine service and repairs throughout the agreement. You do not pay to maintain our solar equipment.

What happens to your utility bill?

Your property stays connected to the utility. When solar cannot cover your demand, the utility supplies the rest. You continue paying the utility for that electricity and any applicable fixed, demand, and other utility charges.

Before installation, we review your site and usage, then put the solar rate, term, billing method, and each party’s responsibilities in writing. Project details depend on the property and the signed agreement.

Commercial solar PPA FAQ

PPA BASICS

What is a commercial solar PPA?

A power purchase agreement lets a business use on-site solar without buying the solar system. Midlands Energy owns the approved system and the customer purchases the solar electricity it uses under the signed agreement.

UPFRONT COST

Does the customer pay for installation?

No. Under our PPA structure, Midlands Energy pays the approved installation cost. The customer does not make an upfront investment in the solar equipment.

OPERATIONS

Who maintains the solar system?

Midlands Energy owns the system and pays for routine service and repairs during the agreement. The customer’s responsibilities are defined in the signed PPA.

UTILITY SERVICE

Does the building stay connected to the utility?

Yes. The utility continues serving the property when solar production does not cover demand, and the customer continues paying applicable utility charges.
