About Midlands Energy LLC

Midlands Energy LLC is an Iowa solar company focused on commercial power purchase agreements, solar array decommissioning, and buying and reselling usable solar equipment.

Built around real commercial facilities

Midlands Energy was built from firsthand experience in commercial building operations. Electrical service, roof access, maintenance, equipment condition, utility billing, and the people using a building all affect whether a solar project makes sense. We pay attention to those details before making commitments.

Our work is centered on three areas: developing and owning commercial solar projects through power purchase agreements, evaluating and purchasing usable solar equipment, and helping owners plan the removal or decommissioning of existing arrays.

We favor straightforward scopes, documented equipment, realistic economics, and keeping serviceable solar hardware productive when reuse is practical.

WHAT WE DO

Commercial Solar Services Across the Solar Lifecycle

Commercial solar PPAs

We develop and own approved solar systems and sell the electricity produced under a power purchase agreement, giving qualifying commercial properties a path to on-site solar without buying the system upfront.

Solar decommissioning

We evaluate rooftop and ground-mounted arrays for removal, repowering, equipment recovery, and disposition based on site conditions, access, equipment, and schedule.

Used solar equipment

We evaluate working and surplus panels, inverters, racking, and related equipment for purchase and resale when the condition, documentation, quantity, and logistics make reuse practical.

Projects and equipment opportunities are reviewed individually. Engineering, permitting, electrical work, utility requirements, freight, and other project-specific needs are addressed as applicable before work is committed.

Why reuse matters

Useful panels still have work to do.

170,000–1 million tons

Projected cumulative U.S. solar panel waste by 2030, including panels of all conditions. This is not an annual count of working panels.

About 296 kWh per panel/year

Illustrative output from one working 225 W panel at an assumed 15% capacity factor: 0.225 kW × 8,760 hours × 0.15. A million such panels could generate about 296 million kWh/year if redeployed. Actual output depends on the site and equipment.

There is no dependable count of still-working panels discarded each year. Our goal is to evaluate removed equipment for safe reuse, keep suitable panels generating, and direct panels that cannot be reused to responsible recycling.
